We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our community: Party Onbici has been officially recognised by Transport for NSW as one of the standout digital solutions helping to make cycling safer and more accessible across New South Wales.
The Active Transport Bike Riding Innovation Challenge
Transport for NSW launched the Active Transport Bike Riding Innovation Challenge (ATBRIC) with a clear mission: to encourage more people to take up cycling by addressing the key barriers that hold them back—safety concerns, lack of confidence, and the challenge of planning routes in unfamiliar areas.
The challenge invited innovators to develop digital solutions that would make bike riding more appealing, safer, and accessible to everyday commuters. Out of all the submissions, Party Onbici was selected as one of three featured solutions making a real difference in the cycling community.
Why Party Onbici Stood Out
According to Transport for NSW’s Open Data Hub, we’re recognised (under our former name, Bike Party) for “helping to make bike riding safer and more social by connecting cyclists who are commuting to the same destination.”
This perfectly captures what we’ve always believed: cycling is better together. When you ride with others, you:

- Bicycle routes and cycleways
- Trip planning APIs
- 17 dedicated cycling datasets
By leveraging these resources through the NSW Open Data Hub, we’ve been able to build features that help cyclists find the best routes, locate secure parking, and connect with fellow riders.
